Latina Women and the Body Lecture Series
Wednesday, October 3 at 7 p.m.In celebration of October’s Hispanic Heritage Month, MOCA’s Women on the Rise! education program, in partnership with FIU‘s Women’s Studies Center, will present a special three-part lecture series titled Latina Women and the Body. The series will examine issues of Latina women and body image and will explore how representations of Latina women and girls shape notions about their sexuality. All lectures will take place on Wednesday evenings as part of MOCA by Moonlight. The first lecture – Part One: Ni Pardo, Ni Prieto: Presentations of Skin Color Influencing Hispanic Women’s Self Identity – will be presented by Dr. Dionne Stephens, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Affiliated Faculty member of Women’s Studies Program and Latin America & Caribbean Studies Center, FIU. Admission is free.
