Miami Dade College’s Art Gallery System Presents Evoking Frida Kahlo

Miami, October 3, 2011 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Art Gallery System will present its latest art exhibition Evoking Frida Kahlo with an opening reception featuring a live performance and refreshments at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6at the InterAmerican Campus in Little Havana. 

Best known for her self-portraits, Kahlo’s work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form. Her work emphasizes Mexican culture and Amerindian cultural tradition.

MDC’s InterAmerican Campus Art Gallery is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
