The museum’s new “pop up” education program GO GO MOAD!

Dear Friends of MDC Museum of Art + Design:

The past two years for the MDC Museum of Art + Design at the Freedom Tower have been a period of great accomplishment and growth. Our institution organized and presented the likes of many acclaimed exhibitions by artists and designers such as American painter Arnold Mesches, famed fashion designers Isabel and Ruben Toledo, award-winning Spanish photographer Christina García Rodero and influential Cuban artist Antonia Eiriz, to name a few.

The Museum will embark on its next phase of achievement as we close for renovations to overhaul our galleries and, most importantly, install three new permanent galleries dedicated to the legacy of the Cuban historical and cultural diaspora. One specific exhibition, The Exile Experience: Journey to Freedom, a partnership with the Miami Herald, is a journalistic chronology that showcases the spirits and accomplishments of the Cuban-American community and the impact of the Freedom Tower’s role as a Refugee Assistance Center.

In addition, the forthcoming season at the Museum presents a number of exciting and stimulating exhibitions, performances and programs focusing on world-renowned artists and designers. We look forward to new experiences with our educational series GO GO MOAD!, the naming of the Museum’s Board of Advisors and establishment of a museum membership program. We are energized by the many ways in which these new beginnings will create a cultural institution that further encourages the appreciation and understanding of art and design in addition to the preservation of the Freedom Tower’s historic past.

The success of our institution is measured by the support of the community and I encourage you to make a special connection with the Museum and Freedom Tower through a donation, or by joining as an inaugural member in September. More details regarding membership will be announced at a later date.

I want to thank you for your tremendous support of the Museum and Freedom Tower and to say how enthusiastic I am in forging the future of our institution into the next frontier.

See you in early fall!
