MIAMI, Florida – February 5/2015 – The Cuban Art Project – The 2015 edition of the Southwest Florida Art & Design Show Florida’s premier modern and contemporary art show, is set to take place at the Miromar Design Centre in Estero, Florida , from 19-21 February 2015. The Southwest Florida Art & Design Show brings together more than 50 international artists exhibiting Modern and Contemporary Art and Design. From 1854 to the present along with major works of ethnographic art, furniture and antiquities.
Southwest Florida Art & Design Show also features an exciting program of curated exhibitions, talks, tours, and performances. Highlights include an exhibition of key works from Cuban Painters: Antonio Guerrero, Alejandro Mendoza, Yovani Bauta & Freddy Villamil.
The Aldo Castillo Gallery, established in Chicago in 1993 with a concentration in Latin American art, is considered today to be one of the leading art galleries on the international art scene. In 2011 the gallery relocated from Chicago to Miromar Design Center in Southwest Florida pioneering modern and contemporary art for private collectors, museum collections, and design professionals.
With curatorial experience spanning more than 30 years, Aldo Castillo is recognized as a leading authority of Modern & Contemporary Art. A former curator at Guatemala City’s Popol Vuh Museum and a recipient of numerous awards and honors, his portfolio includes over 250 international art exhibitions, the development of many important public and private collections in Chicago and around the world, as well as the development of corporate art programs for international companies, including Fort James Co., AMOCO Co., The CORE Center, and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Castillo is also a veteran of international art fairs, including ARTShanghai International Wing, Chicago ARTEahora – Chicago’s only Latin American art fair, and MIA-Miami International Art Fair. In 2012 Castillo founded ArtSpot International Art Fair held the first week of December, in Miami’s Wynwood art district expanding to San Diego each November.
